DIRECTIONS FROM BRINDISI AIRPORT. (PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR BARI AND OTHER INFO)

As you exit the airport terminal turn left for the hire car offices. The cars are parked and returned at the back. As you come out the hire car carpark turn right and follow the slip road past the front of the terminal (one way) and follow round left at the end to a roundabout... take the first exit right for Brindisi. Follow any signs for Brindisi. You will pass a Brindisi sign.. follow the road to traffic lights and turn right. This is the SS16 Via Brindisi to San Vito dei Normanni. Straight across the next set of traffic lights and follow the road which then widens. You will pass the Minerva Hotel on the right and the traffic lights at the military base. Follow the road and you come to a bendy bridge (the only bend in the road) which goes over the railway. Follow the road to a new roundabout which has a single light in the middle of it. Go straight ahead to San Vito dei Normanni and the Villa Olivia turning is on the right about 5km along the road. Look for the triangular junction sign (photos below coming the airport direction) just after a triangular junction sign on the right... the 9th one from the roundabout. Turn right into the little tarmac road... round a slight left hand corner and the Villa gates are the first on the left. If you see the Hotel dei Normanni on the left you have just passed the turning. Please phone our 'Meet and Greet' people David 0039338642641 or Costanza 00393338404596 once you landed so they can arrange timing to meet you at the villa.
The villa address is: Villa Olivia, Contrada Gianniricchiella SN 72019, San Vito dei Normanni (BR) This won't help you as there is no postal system in this area.

PLEASE NOTE:
The weekly rental charge covers 5 hours cleaning... should the villa be left in a condition that requires additional cleaning a charge of €10 per hour will be deducted from the deposit. When arranging an arrival time with our 'meet and greet' people please keep to the time arranged as you will be charged a late fee of €15 per hour. This does not include flight delays.

Photo 1. Just approaching - note junction sign on the right.
2. You'll be on the right hand side 3km to San Vito.

3 and 4.Villa Olivia drive entrance. There is a triangular junction sign on this side of the entrance
drive and the new '70km' and 'no overtaking' sign the other.

5 and 6. Hotel dei Normanni... you've just missed the turning if you get here.
The hotel sign has changed from photo 5 and now looks like photo 6 but is shown coming
from the San Vito direction heading towards Brindisi.

HOW TO GET THERE
FROM BARI

From Bari airport follow signs to Brindisi. You will end up on the E55 also named SS379 in parts near San Vito. The San Vito dei Normanni turn off is about a 100km from Bari and will take about an hour and a half. The San Vito dei Normanni turn off comes after the Carovigno one as a guide but there a lot of little turn offs between but will give you some idea that you are getting close. The turn off is the SS35 to San Vito dei Normanni and will take you straight to the centre of San Vito. As you enter the town there is right hand bend into a one way street which takes you to traffic lights that may or may not be working. Get in the left-hand lane and turn left. This is the main through road in San Vito and is the SS16 also know as the SP1bis on some maps. After turning left at lights you will pass an AGIP petrol garage on the left and shortly after at the cross road junction in the middle of San Vito turn left to Brindisi. You have right of way. You are now on the road to the villa. Drive through and out of San Vito passing another AGIP garage on the right. Carry on for about 3-5km and you will see a sign which is usually illuminated at night for the Resort Hotel Dei Normanni on the right after which the Villa road is the second small road on the left with back off a speed sign before the junction and a back off a junction sign just past the entrance (Photos above from Brindisi direction). If you miss this and carry straight on you will come to a roundabout with a single light in the middle. Turn round and come back the way you came and the villa road entrance is immediately after the ninth triangular junction sign on the right from the roundabout. It is a small tarmac road with a slight left-hand bend. The Villa entrance is just after and is the first on the left with red double gate. When you get your hire car at Bari airport please phone our ‘Meet and Greet’ people David 0039338642641 or Costanza 00393338404596 and arrange time to meet at villa (about 1½ hours drive)... or if you get lost ring them as there are your first call contacts for anything while you are there.

Another useful thing to know is where the bank cash machine is. (See 1st map and the one immediately above) The easiest one to find is to go right from the villa road to the centre of San Vito to the crossroad junction with large TV screen on top of a building… get in the left-hand lane (middle of the road) and go straight across… look right you don’t have right of way. Straight to the bottom (one way road) give way at all cross roads as there seems to be no system in place for right of way. At the bottom T-junction get in left hand lane and turn left. Opposite this junction is the library where you can get internet access. You come to a square with trees and greengrocer stall (in the morning only) on the left… behind him is the Pizzeria Broadway (they do take-aways). The entrance you are looking for is off to the left a bit after them and is opposite the entrance to the public gardens but just park anywhere round the square and walk up to the old centre and Piazza Carlucci/Leo Leonardo past café Giallo under the castle and the bank is round the next turning to the left opposite Café Paradiso (great for ice cream) on the left the banks on the right. To get to the cash machine you use the door with the ramp and open the door by using your credit card chip in the door lock… magnetic strip up. The easiest way back is to go round the square and return the way you came but pass the T-junction you came down on and take the next turning right (one way) back up to the main road or just explore… bit of maze though! Good luck.

SHOPPING
The best place for easy shopping to start with is the GS Supermercato. From the middle crossroad junction in San Vito instead of going across to the bank… turn right (towards Carovigno) straight across the lights. The supermarket is on the right as you go out of town. To buy vegetables and fruit… weight them on the scales and put in the product code number displayed next to the product for price label. You can have fun exploring the smaller shops but this is the easiest place to shop. There is also a new 'Pennywise' supermarket opened which is on the right just before you reach San Vito and is also very good and easy to use.

OTHER AMENITIES

Just across the road from the villa entrance is the Resort Hotel dei Normanni which has a restaurant, café and bar open to non residents and is only about 100yds from our road entrance. They also have Wi-Fi internet connection which you may be able to use. The rubbish bins for our villa are also down the road that runs down the side of the hotel... just past it's second gate. Don't put rubbish in the bins until evening because of the heat and smell... the bins are emptied early morning.

You need your car headlights on all the time and must carry both parts of your driving licence and insurance/hire details with you at all times when driving. They speak very little English in this region so don’t forget the phrase book… unless your Italian is better than mine! You may have been to Italy before and do not need this info… but if not, it may be useful.
